This doesn't really have anything to do with making winning look easy but I just thought i'd share a story with my fellow coxies out there... Last weekend we had a regatta with all the schools in our state, the same as every weekend.... Well, at this regatta, I raced my usual 2 events, 1st 4+ and 1st 8+, now as usual, my 4+ destroyed the pack and I was ready for my 8+ race... Well, to my dismay, we were beaten... *sigh*
Now, one thing you have to realise is that this was the first time we had raced this other school and yes, they beat us... Now to add insult to injury, these 9 beasts had to publish an article in one of the largest newspapers titled "(Schools name) UNBEATEN THIS SEASON" then, this article continued to state how the only way this school would lose our state finals is if something in the boat breaks.... MWAHAHAHAHA
Well obviously their hull must have snapped in two because my rowers and I did not take this article lightly, this last weekend was the finals... We knew how to race them now, they had no chance of winning especially after being almost as arrogant as me...
Yes, as it happened we only beat them by a second but I guess i'm the one with the gold...

Sounds like you've been having it easy - a bit of competition will do you and your rowers good. I predict that this other crew will push you to better rowing all around. :-)

Sounds like when you were beaten you were caught off guard . Biggest thing i've learnt is be prepared to race anyone anyday any division.

Yeah we were, we didnt realise how strong their rowers were, you could see they were big but they destroyed us during their push... They are supurb athletes but once we knew how strong they were, we could hold them off... this screwed with their heads cause they were used to us giving in...
