This is just a random story I feel like sharing with the world... hopefully I dont get sued... Every year, all the schools round South Africa go to a regatta situated about 1500km from where I am called "Buffalo", its a river in a valley, really awesome!

anyways, back to my story... So, my crew and I are all waiting at the airport to board our plane, when they do finally call our flight, we now have to go through the detectors... I have a CoxBox... sigh... They first ask me what it is, I try explain without having to open the black case up... they say they want to see it, so I open it... "ITS A BOMB!" I hear one of them shout...sigh... I proceed to turn it on... numbers appear on the screen... sigh...

They confiscate my CoxBox to check it out with security... I get it back about 10 mins later and it's switch had been snapped off...sigh... $250 later, my CoxBox works again... I love airports!

Yeah, we always send our cox boxes on the trailer with the boats whenever possible for that exact reason, its kinda hard to explain why there are numbers on this little metal device to an unimformed security guard

Yeah, I mean they didnt exactly get a degree in rocket science if they are working as a security guard in South Africa...

Yea, I sorta had the opposite reaction. When I went to HOCR last year and went to the airport, I was sure that they would check my box (I was kind of worried that it would have to stay behind) When I brought up the "liitle black suitcase", they asked what was inside, and i explained that it was for crew and that I would be competing in a race. They then procceded to open the case and assessed that everything was ok and set my on my way.

Airport security scares me,
