Hey everyone, im tasha!! I live in Thorold, Ontario and well this is my article!! I was down at the clubhouse today just waiting for my crew to come back from their run(yea I was too lazy to go with them) and I was talking to some other coxies and I realized that people who row and cox get obsessed. Not only do we own tonnes of rowing clothes, we own a whole other wardrobe for it. I started rowing because a few girls at my school needed a coxie, found me cause of my size and eventually forced me to join. Since then rowing has become my life. And I do mean my life, thats all I do, people are actually sick of me and rowing. But back to my story.....rowers are just so dedicated, but coxies get obsessed. And I dont think anyone of us is ashamed of it but still. I really dont think there is any other sport where there is so much pride.
And why not?? Its an awesome sport and I believe that everyone should be involved in it, haha. Another thing with the obsessed rowing population is that this summer here in Ontario was a heat warning, advising people to stay inside and to avoid alot of physical strain outside. But of course down at Henley everyone was still rowing, same trips - same workouts as always...just more water. Anyone affilated with this sport lives it and loves it. And thats the way it should be!! =)
Row the race--- 'till the end!!
Tasha

I didn't join the school team because there isn't 8 people of either sex who care and actually try. One of my other friends actually told her "don't tell him that you're on the rowing team... he won't shut up about it". Of course I recently found out and surprise surprise... I haven't shut up about rowing yet.
I started rowing 5 years ago for a different reason though.... I couldn't afford hockey.... now rowing has become even more expensive now that I'm competitive, but I'm not willing to stop.
The heat in Ontario is insane in the summer..... I thought I was going to die @ Henley.... I still have my unisuit tan!!! I was walking around on our last night there from about 12am-5am and was suffering from some insane heat exhaustion. We eventually got back to the residence we were staying at after about 5 hours of talking about rowing then went and packed and a few of us who went walking that night just slept on the floor together until our bus left.
