well I'm in a bit of a pickle!

Last month some time I was asked to represent the North Island at our academy or U21's coxing. Now this is a pretty big honour seeing as I'm 17. It just happens that academy isn't that prestigious inside rowing (outside people are blown away though :-) yay) It runs for about 3 months and training 7-8 times a week at a place thats an hour drive from my house (o and I cant drive - yet - hopefully I will be able to drive soon) and at the end of it all we go and represent NZ in australia at the Youth Cup.

So that was all good untill . . . . . I discovered I had a NZ Junior (U19) Trial.

Now lets get this straight - U19 is held in a much higher regard than U21's...but there's 5 other coxies going for the one spot :-O!! And the trials would involve a flight to the South Island. and I doubt I would get the job. But then Juniors is Juniors - its what everybody in the country recognises as the up and coming talent. (so getting a trial is very good!!) and they go and represent NZ at the Junior Worlds.

So its a tough decision. I don't have to trial for juniors but it is my last year of being U19. and if I do make the team I won't be able to do academy. ...and I hate making choices!

Trust me, it is an absolutely huge experience, and if you get the job you will not regret it...and why can I say this? Cos I got the job in 2003 ;)

i wont be U19 next year because i will be 18 at the end of this year and NZ Rowing take the ages from that.

ie u but be U19 on the 31st Dec in the year u trial (even tho its April)

and also getting from Hamilton to Twizel is grrr

Can you not do the trial for the U19's and then make the decision if you got the seat ???
